Googee / Sydney

Oh how I love the Sydney escapes, especially if they involve photoshoots! The big smoke's scene is way different from the rural stillness of Orange. Most of my shoots take place among rolling hills and vineyards of the countryside, but this session with Josh and Jordan reminded me how striking the concrete jungle can be, especially as the sun sinks into the horizon and city lights dance on the water.

We started at Gordon’s Bay, tucked between Clovelly and Coogee — one of my favourite little corners of the coastline. There’s something visually interesting about the timber boat decks and cliffs, making it a dream for composition. Jordan’s friend, an incredible florist, created the most stunning bouquet for her, and it completely transformed the mood of the shoot. It added structure, movement, and a touch of artistry that felt perfectly balanced against the ruggedness of the bay.

Josh joined us later, straight from rush hour after work. The shift in light and energy was immediate, these two were still so visibly smitten and I was there for it! Evening had settled in, the air had cooled, and the city lights began to flicker behind them. There was something so genuine about this part of the shoot, as Coogee beach used to be their favourite hanging spot in Sydney.

We wrapped up at Coogee Pavilion, sharing pizza. It was one of those sessions that made me fall in love with photography all over again.
